TRANSHUMAN FESTIVAL

One of the most beautiful traditional festivals of Provence. Each year, herds of sheep leave Provence for spring in the pastures of the Alps. This journey was formerly on foot, sometimes requiring more than ten days’ march. This feast reconstructs an ancient custom still celebrated today.

VAN GOGH

Vincent Van Gogh moved to Saint-Rémy’s hospice of Saint-Paul de Mausole to be treated until May 1890. During the year he spent in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Vincent van Gogh created Numerous drawings and nearly 150 paintings that count among his greatest masterpieces. The landscapes of Saint-Rémy and the foothills of the Alpilles, the places where he stayed, are very preserved and are now open to visitors as the painter discovered them more than a century ago.
